Teen masturbation is good or bad?

Teen Masturbation

Many parents make the mistake of telling their boys and daughters masturbation is wrong, and it can cause side-effects like poor sight, small penis, or other crazy things. Masturbation is not evil, dirty or harmful - it will not make you go blind, drive you insane, turn you in to a pervert, stunt your growth, give you an STD, make you sterile or get you pregnant.

Both guys and girls masturbate, it is a normal and healthy part of sexual development, as long as you don’t end up preferring it over the actual sexual act. In this case, some measures should be taken, by means of therapy. Everyone should know: You are normal if you masturbate, normal if you wonder about it but don’t do it, and normal if you never give it a second thought and don’t do it. It is one of the few things in life that is “normal if you do and normal if you don’t”.

Masturbation as exploration of the body is common in children between the ages of 3 and 6, in teens masturbation becomes more sophisticated and sexually motivated. Surveys have shown that 80% of males and 59% of females have masturbated by age 18.

Masturbation may make sexual intercourse more enjoyable because you will already know what it takes to “please you”.

Masturbation signs

One of the signs of masturbation is acne. Masturbation often leads to excessive hormone production, which is the primary cause of acne at teenagers. Very few teenagers who don’t masturbate have acne.

Another sign is your son or daughter’s desire for privacy. If your child locks his or her bedroom door, chances are he or she is in there masturbating. Many teenagers that hit puberty get isolated from their family.

Also, a clear sign of masturbating is the denial. Very few teenagers can admit that they are masturbating without being ashamed of it or without feeling guilty. If the parents react badly to this confession, the only result possible is that the teenager will become even more distant than before, and that can lead to many other problems because he won’t talk to his parents anymore about other situations in his life, because of the way the parents could react.

My opinion is that masturbation is a natural part of any person’s sexual development, and with teens, the best thing to do is to talk to them without forbidding them to do it, because it can’t do any good. However, there are a lot of parents out there that don;t react well when they find out. Almost any person does it at one point of their lives and it can’t harm anyone as long as it don’t get out of hand.

In most countries, masturbation tends to be legal, even by children, as long as nobody else is involved and no image is made. However, a few jurisdictions in the U.S. do have laws against the distribution of masturbation aids.

Masturbation in a public place is even punishable by law, being considered indecent exposure, and behaviour.
