The so long waited men`s contraceptive pills come on the marketplace and they seem to be not hormonal at all.
It seems like we don`t have to wait anymore, because the researchers from the Food and Drug Administration have studied a non hormonal contraceptive that stops sperm in their tracks, a so called Intra Vas Device.
This non hormonal contraceptive for men has a simple concept: a set of plugs block sperm as long as they travel through the two muscular tubes that carry sperm from the epididymis to the urethra, that looks like a tub. This kind of contraceptive has no side effects.
This is a process that blocks the sperm in the vas deferens(the two muscular tubes that carry sperm from the epididymis to the urethra), just like a simple concept of vasectomy. The vasectomy is a few minutes procedure in which the vas deferens is cut. Vasectomies seal or remove part of the vas deferens, the tube that carries sperm through the reproductive tract. Vas occlusion methods block the vas deferens but aim to leave the tube intact, making reversal easier. In America one in six men over 35 has vasectomy. But vasectomy is considered permanent so younger men choose condoms as their only option.
But you can also try another way to control your sperm block. It is known that prolonged stints in a hot tube or tight brief style underwear can decrease sperm count. You can try this at home, because heat treatment is more an exercise than a treatment.
In China men use injectable silicone plugs. It is a pre-formed silicone plug, implanted in the vas deferens.
But men contraceptive are not all non hormonal. The researchers tried in making a men`s pill that could be just like female`s hormonal contraceptives. This is a contraceptive with a combination of various hormones that suppresses sperm production. This contraceptive would be like a bi-annual injection.
But a non hormonal pill is expected to come on the market as a pharmaceutical product. Now you can find in pharmacies lots of male contraceptive drugs with various contraceptive mechanism. Some of them are already approved, one of them has also a potent role.
